We’ve written it in clear and accessible language, grounded in our feminist values of justice, consent, and care.

The Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) is a collective of feminist, women’s rights and gender equality advocates working together for climate justice. Our collective functions are supported and hosted by the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), a registered nonprofit that legally houses and safeguards all data on behalf of the WGC.

We collect only what we need to nurture our community and advocacy:

• Contact details: such as your name, email, and organization, when you sign up for newsletters, advocacy calls, or events.
• Basic usage data: like which pages you visit on our website, so we can improve accessibility and relevance.
• Optional information: if you choose to share more (e.g., region, thematic interests) so we can connect you with the right networks and opportunities.

We never sell your data. Ever.

Under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), we process your data based on:

• Consent – when you sign up for our emails or events.
• Legitimate interest – when we need to keep our community safe and connected, in ways that don’t override your rights.

You can withdraw your consent at any time.

• Your data is stored securely by WEDO, following its data protection and privacy policies.
• Access is strictly limited to the WGC Facilitative Committee, and only to those members who have undertaken WEDO’s privacy and data protection training.
• Passwords are regularly updated, and access is monitored to ensure accountability and safety.

We may also work with trusted service providers (like secure email platforms) who help us communicate with you, but they cannot use your data for their own purposes.

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct or delete your information.
• Restrict or object to certain types of processing.
• Take your data with you (data portability).
• Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority if needed.

We take digital safety seriously, knowing many of us face risks in our activism. WEDO uses secure platforms, encrypted systems, and limited access protocols. Facilitative Committee members are trained in WEDO’s privacy approach, and passwords are regularly changed. Still, no system is 100% risk-free. We encourage you to also use safe digital practices when engaging with us.

We only keep your information as long as it’s needed for the purpose you shared it for (for example, while you remain subscribed to our mailing list). You can unsubscribe or request deletion anytime.

Like most websites, we use cookies (small text files) to understand how the site is being used and to make it more accessible. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time.
