COP31 Engagement and Advocacy

Despite the rise of anti-rights agendas and the rollback of hard-won gains, the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) remains unwavering in our pursuit of feminist climate justice, for the health of our planet and the wellbeing of our communities.

Throughout 2026, we are advancing rights and amplifying feminist analysis and narratives through two interconnected strategies:

Policy advocacy and negotiation — driving technical engagement within UNFCCC processes through our thematic working groups on Gender, Adaptation, Just Transition, Mitigation, Finance, and more.
Public mobilization and movement-building — creating powerful spaces for feminist visibility and collective resistance inside and outside the COP halls, from the Global Week of Action to Gender Justice Day in Antalya.

As we move toward COP31 in Antalya, we are taking deliberate action to prevent harm, resist regression on commitments, and safeguard progressive language, while building alliances that reflect care, solidarity, and intersectional justice.

WGC COP31 Priorities

Effectively implement the Belém Gender Action Plan.
Foster enabling environments to advance gender-responsive adaptation.
Establish a feminist, just, equitable, human and nature- rights-centered Just Transition framework.
Deliver predictable, new, and additional public non-debt-creating climate finance in quantity and quality.
Strengthen and ensure an inclusive, gender-responsive bottom-up Global Stocktake process.
Deliver on an intersectional and just evaluated ACE action plan for the next five years
Fulfill commitments to integrate gender-responsiveness in technology development and transfer.
Divest military and fossil-fuel spending, and redirect funds towards ambitious climate action.
Accelerate mitigation efforts.
Reject carbon trading and offset mechanisms that undermine true emissions reductions and harm communities and nature.
Address climate-induced health impacts, including those on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), through gender-responsive adaptation and a gender-just transition.
