COP30 Engagement and Advocacy

Despite the rise of anti-rights agendas and the rollback of hard-won gains, the Women and Gender Constituency (WGC) remains unwavering in our pursuit of feminist climate justice, for the health of our planet and the wellbeing of our communities.

Throughout 2025, we are advancing rights and amplifying feminist analysis and narratives through two interconnected strategies:

  • Policy advocacy and negotiation — driving technical engagement within UNFCCC processes through our thematic working groups on Gender, Adaptation, Just Transition, Finance, and more.

  • Public mobilization and movement-building — creating powerful spaces for feminist visibility and collective resistance inside and outside the COP halls, from the Global Week of Action to Gender Justice Day in Belém.

As we move toward COP30 in Brazil, we are taking deliberate action to prevent harm, resist regression on commitments, and safeguard progressive language, while building alliances that reflect care, solidarity, and intersectional justice.

WGC COP30 Priorities

  1. Deliver an ambitious Gender Action Plan (GAP)

  2. Foster enabling environments for gender-responsive adaptation

  3. Establish a feminist, rights-based framework for Just Transition

  4. Deliver new and additional climate finance, in both quality and quantity

  5. Integrate gender-responsiveness in technology development and transfer

  6. Divest from military and fossil-fuel spending, redirect funds to climate action

  7. Accelerate mitigation efforts grounded in justice and equity

  8. Reject carbon trading and offset schemes that harm communities and nature

  9. Ensure inclusive, bottom-up processes in the Global Stocktake

  10. Mainstream Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) across the UNFCCC

  11. Address climate-related health impacts, including sexual and reproductive health and rights
