April 21, 2020 The current COVID-19 pandemic reveals the inequalities and weaknesses of our existing exploitative economic and societal models. Now more than ever before we have to build in solidarity with our communities and form power and strength in global movements that offer answers to the injustices we face. For decades, feminists from around the world have been challenging injustices and offering solutions towards a more just and equal world.
Power, solidarity, care and revolution – this is what feminist movement building can look like.
In this video, feminist climate activists from around the world explain why there is no climate justice without gender justice. These interviews, recorded during the COP25 climate conference in Madrid as well as at the alternative summit organized by civil society in Santiago de Chile in December 2019, highlight the work of activities working to center women’s and human rights in climate action.
As we plan for Earth Day on 22 April, amidst multi-layered crises working to exacerbate inequalities, we hope these powerful statements serve to remind us that the solutions for a more just world exist, that we can transform our world to center health, social protection, education, environment and equality. Share these stories, and let’s continue our work in collective to create the just world we know is possible.
